The new room has been named after Aatos Leskisenoja, who was a resident of Finlandia Village for some 12 years and whose bequest to the organisation made the new work possible.
The Ambassador, accompanied by his wife as well as the Honourary Finnish Consul to Queensland Tom Ruonala and his wife, told the gathered crowd of the generosity of Mr Leskisenoja. The Ambassador is also the Patron to the Australian Finnish Rest Home Association.
After the official opening, the invited guests mingled with Residents and visitors as well as AFRHA staff and management. All had an opportunity to amble through the new area and inspect the quality workmanship and fit-out. Many complimentary comments were heard in regards to the fine fittings and warm atmosphere that the new room generated.
